365:234 - chocolate mess

365:234

This morning, I gave the boys "Brownie Batter Overnight Oatmeal" and it was an absolute mess (and not very yummy). But Joshua captured this photo of Benjamin having a blast in his mess and that was all worth it!!

Later in the day, I was just so proud of my boy and his endurance in tracing the letters of "alligator" so I took another shot of him. :)

365:233 - A is for Alligator

365:233

Here is a sample of what Samuel did this day in ABC School. I think he especially likes to trace the lines (not the letters so much), color with markers, and make letters with play-doh. We're still experiencing with what activities he thrives doing, but for now he seems to enjoy all of them. I'm so thankful he likes to learn and do "school." Doing this has given me more confidence that we may actually be able to homeschool in the coming years. :)

ABC School

I decided that, although Samuel is constantly learning and soaking in everything around him, I would create a structured time in our day to teach him the ABCs formally. He knows most of his letters, but I started using a curriculum from www.1plus1plus1equals.com. It's called Animal ABC's and focuses on a letter of the alphabet and an animal that starts with that letter, each week. It's awesome and Samuel seems to really love all the different activities that go along with the lessons.
The same day that our nephew Paxton started Kindergarten, I started ABC School with Samuel. Benjamin joins us by coloring and playing with stickers. We only do a few minutes a day but I try to review with him and build on the lessons throughout the day. Here are a couple pictures I took of the boys to document their first day ;)

365:232 - feeling fall…sorta

365:232

If anyone knows me, they know that I LIVE for Fall. My mood changes, the leaves change (at least in Louisivlle, they do), the Starbucks menu changes, the weather changes (again, in Louisville). This night, I was sitting out with Lauren and we both noted that it felt like Fall might be coming around the corner. I noticed a slight chill in the air and some brown leaves that had fallen. It got me very, very excited!
I also captured some cute ones of the cutie ;)

365:230 - my boys rock.

365:230

I just love these guys. I love tummy time. I love "B is for Bear." I love Samuel. I love Benjamin. I love Gabriel. I love my husband who takes occasional photos of me with my boys so that I won't look back on all these photos and wonder where I was ;)

365:229 - Gabriel is 3 months old!

365:229

Ugh! I love this baby! Gabriel turned 3 months old on the 16th and it has been some of the sweetest 3 months. Gabriel is such a cuddler and lover. I actually call him my "love" and "lovey." He's just so lovable and brightens our lives with his sweet, full-faced smile! Gabriel loves milk (like every other baby), sleeps through the night (~11-12 hours), babbles and blows bubbles, loves face timing grandma and grandpa, and hates his carseat. I think he may be starting to teethe because he drools a ton and chews on his hands. Maybe for his 4 month update, he'll have teeth to report. :)

Unfortunately, I didn't catch a smile for these shots, but I promise, he smiles all the time ;)

365:228 - bedtime fun

365:228

Being the 16th of the month, you would think I was going to write a monthly update on our sweet Gabriel. But I definitely forgot and didn't take a photo of him until the 17th. So that will be for the next post ;) This evening was no different than any other evening but I just happened to capture the things that go on before the boys go to bed. Joshua loves to throw the boys in the air, swing them by their feet, and turn Samuel into Spiderman. The boys LOVE their abba!

365:227 - no nap, no way.

365:227

This is the day that I willingly let Samuel skip his nap to play outside and on the iPad instead of just laying in bed to rest. Big mistake. I'm learning that even if he doesn't sleep, he definitely benefits from a time of rest. But I did capture this cute photo of him blowing bubbles outside.

365:226 - different boys, different activities

365:226

This day, I seemed to capture each boy doing something different and I just loved it. First, I got Gabriel blowing his first fun spit bubbles. It was hilarious and oh so cute! Later, I caught Benjamin being super sweet and "talkative" with Gabriel in the middle of playing with "Bucky." Then I captured Samuel learning a bit of Spanish (and having a happy time doing it) on my Rosetta Stone Kids app. Love these guys!

365:222 - beach day

365:222
We decided to take an impromptu trip to Ventura, enjoy some lunch, and play in the sand for a bit! Joshua took Samuel and Benjamin into the ocean while Gabriel and I took a little snooze on a blanket! It was definitely a much needed break from the craziness of our every day lives :)

365:218 - swimming and sunset

365:218

This evening, we enjoyed some swimming (well, I enjoyed taking photos of the swimmers) and a little drive.
Samuel has been begging Joshua to take him swimming (which is ironic, because he usually screams bloody murder when he gets in the water). We made our way to The Master's College pool and Samuel was like a FISH! Once he got in, he was, with swimmies, dominating the pool! It was so fun to watch him enjoy himself and act like a "biiiig boy!"
After some swimming, we took a drive around Newhall with some Starbucks! We happened to be driving by a great view right when the sun was going down. It was much more gorgeous than this photo could even capture.

365:217 - bikes

365:217

Joshua picked up a little trike from a children's consignment store for Benjamin since Samuel has one already and we're looking for more things for the boys to do outside! He loves it!
